What the work looks like, up close
SMP is judged at two distances: across a room it should read as a full head of closely cropped hair, and from a hand's width away it should look like follicles, not a flat block of colour.

The comparison
From thinning crown to an even, defined finish
The change is not 'more hair' — it is contrast. Dense, consistently placed dots reduce the gap between hair and scalp, so the eye reads a full buzz cut instead of bare skin.
Details
Hairline, crown, density and scar work
These are not variations of the same job. Each needs different dot size, spacing and pigment tone — and each is judged from a hand's width away, not just across a room.

Crown density
Dense, irregular stipple across the crown, blended into the existing short hair so there is no visible boundary.

Hairline rebuild
A front hairline with a softened, uneven edge — built to look grown rather than drawn along a ruler.

Hairline restoration, mid-session
A front hairline and temple points being built by hand. The edge is worked dense and consistent, then softened at the very front so the finished line doesn't read as something drawn with a ruler.

Hairline restoration, finished
The same treatment settled into a mature hairline that meets the client's own stubble. Defined where it matters at the front, broken up slightly elsewhere, so it reads as grown hair from across a room.

Women's density
Low-contrast pigment worked through a widened part and thinning crown, adding depth beneath long hair rather than imitating a shaved head.

Scar camouflage
A healed linear scar broken up with fine dots so it stops reading as a line and blends into the surrounding scalp.
Hairline and women's density photographs above are of actual clients, shared with permission. The remaining technique images illustrate detail rather than individual clients. Results vary with skin type, hair pattern, healing and aftercare.
Client work
Recent before and after
Real sessions, photographed in the same room and lighting so the comparison is fair. Look at hairline height, the softness of the front edge, and how the pigment reads against each skin tone.

Full density
Thinning through the top of a shaved head, evened out from the hairline back so the finish reads as a close cut.

Front edge
A receded front brought forward to a mature, slightly irregular hairline rather than a flat drawn band.

Hairline and shape
Diffuse thinning and a high hairline, rebuilt to follow the client's face shape and existing stubble.
Crown coverage
Visible scalp through the crown closed with fine, low-contrast dots matched to the client's own tone.

Grey hair, even density
Thinning through the top of the scalp on grey-brown hair, filled back to an even finish in one tone — the grey is left alone, so it still reads as his own hair rather than a colour block.

Density without cutting
Diffuse thinning across the crown and top, where the scalp showed through the part. Pigment is worked between the existing hairs, so the density comes up without cutting or shaving the length.
